On march 24th and 25th 2017 the #_hackNEXT – the Hackathon for the insurance industry – took place. It was initiated by Allianz Deutschland AG, the technology company DataArt, the insurance analysts Franke and Bornberg, as well as the strategy and management consulting Zeb. Within 30 hours, interdisciplinary teams, consisting of developers, programmers, designers and idea providers, developed new software solutions and business ideas for the insurance industry.

Also ControlExpert’s developer team, consisting of Konstantin Lukaschenko, senior software developer, Olmo del Corral, software developer, Steven Wobser, apprentice application development, Michael Kubijowicz, head of international & key account manager, and Karin Schock, Junior Marketing Manager, faced the challenge on the subject of “Internet of Things”. We are happy that our team from ControlExpert was able to convince the jury, consisting of Jan Schminke (Allianz), Cliff Moyce (Data Art), Michael Franke (Franke und Bornberg), Olaf Scheer (Zeb) and Mehrdad Piroozram (Insurtech.VC), and won the 2nd place. ControlExpert’s team presented a revolutionary IOT solution in conjunction with artificial intelligence and cloud computing: the claim settlement via voice assistant Alexa of Amazon. According to that, clients should receive the opportunity to report a parking damage right from their couch. The vehicle can be identified, located and the damage fictitiously calculated. The client eventually decides over payout or repair. “ControlExpert’s presentation really impressed us because we got an experience of how insurers can solve the boring and time-consuming topic of claims handling in an entertaining and effective way for the customer.”, emphasized jury member Michael Franke. The prize money of 3,500 EUR will be invested in ControlExpert’s research department.
