ControlExpert combines deep learning with augmented reality and wins third place at InsurHACK 2017 in Cologne.

From October 6th to 8th 2017, Coder gathered from all over the world at the Rheinenergie Stadium in Cologne. The Zurich Group Germany had invited to InsurHack - the Hackathon solely for the insurance industry. After 48 hours of "Non-Stop Coding," the ControlExpert team secured the third place on the podium. The team convinced the jury with a process to digitize claim calculations using deep learning and augmented reality visualization (AR). In case of a parking accident, a damage analysis and calculation can be made in real time. The team used state-of-the-art technology, digital linking of the parties involved in the claim, and in-house algorithms based on artificial intelligence. The processing time of a claim can be shortened from several days to just a few minutes.

Built-in sensors in the car use the telemetry data to register the location and severity of the damage immediately after the impact and forward the information directly to the insurance company of the damaged party. A few minutes later, the insurance company sends a binding damage calculation to the mobile device of the claimant. Furthermore, he can assess the damage on the device using an AR model. At the same time, he receives information on the damaged components, such as replacement part prices, labour costs, etc. Thus, he immediately gains an overview of the damage incurred.

ControlExpert's team consisting of Karin Schock (Marketing), Konstantin Lukashenko (IT), Engin Akin (IT), Olmo del Corral (IT), Justin Burchartz (IT) and Jakob Otting (Sales International) competed with 113 participants from 17 different nations.
